Selling OEM Parts to Independent Shops

Leveraging Trends to Sell More OE Parts

The automotive repair industry is comprised of an intricate network of repairers, manufacturers and distributors. To best position themselves within this network, key players across these groups must pay close attention to industry trends, responding to the current market demands. For original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), it is imperative to understand the parts purchasing behaviors of independent repair facilities (IRFs).

To examine these behaviors, Carlisle & Company, in conjunction with MOTOR, conducted a survey of IRFs, asking them about their parts purchasing habits, including how often they purchase OEM versus aftermarket parts, where they source their parts and what factors drive these decisions. The findings of this survey are detailed in a new white paper, Selling OE Genuine Parts into the IRF Channel, helping this group of parts manufacturers better understand the market and what they can do to reach more IRF potential customers.
